The Making of the Holiday Catalog

As you may know, when you are a small business owner, you tend to wear many different hats. In past years I have always outsourced my Holiday catalog and while I liked the result, I was not in love with it. What could be the reason for this? Part of it is that when you have someone else design it, it doesn't always feel like the store and fully encompass your vision. So, this year I decided to take the plunge and learn graphic design (why not? I had a few spare minutes on my hand)!

I was really proud on how the opening page came out...Scott & I work really hard to give you the customer reasons to shop small. Kudos to Carolyn Simpson for the great photograph!

It started with hand-selecting the pieces that go into the catalog. As always, I wanted to show that we have great gifts starting at $25 as well as fine jewelry to commemorate a truly special occasion. After deciding what would be featured, it was now time to start laying out the design...what originally started out as a moderate catalog soon turned into a 64-page book! I just couldn't edit...I felt there was so many great choices this year and fresh looks. And I wanted to share that all with YOU - the jewelry lovers of Desires by Mikolay.

I hope you all love it as much as I do! Check out new spreads like ideas for Stocking Stuffers or The Ultimate Wish Gift! Since this one was such a labor of love, I want to hear from you what your favorite piece is, tweet me @taramikolay or find me on Facebook

Hoping your holiday is a joyous one and enjoy the spirit of giving! xo

The catalog was amazing! I’m still carrying it around in my purse and showing people at work all the great stuff you sell :) Great job!
