I can usually tell how long someone has been coming to us by her charm necklace. Not the necklace itself — the number of charms on it!
One means she started recently. Three or four means there have been a couple of birthdays. The ones with eight or nine have been coming in for years, and every one of those charms is attached to something — a trip, a baby, a year that needed marking. Those necklaces don't get bought. They get built.
Which is exactly why I'm looking forward to Tuesday.

Rachel Reid launched her brand in 2018, out of the West Village, after deciding there was a gap in the market for genuinely stylish gold and diamond jewelry at a price that didn't require a special occasion to justify. She studied fine art, then jewelry design in New York. Everything is 14-karat gold.
Here's the part I like: Rachel is the fourth generation in her family's jewelry business. Scott is the third in his. There is something specific that happens when someone grows up around a bench — a certain refusal to let a piece leave unfinished — and you can feel it in her work. It's why the collection has held up on our floor while flashier things have come and gone.
This is the collection people get hooked on, and it's worth explaining why.
Every charm is designed to be mixed with the others. You start with one — usually one that means something — on a chain you choose. Then something happens in your life, and you add another. There is no correct number and no finished state. Some women wear a single charm on a delicate chain for a year. Others build until the necklace has real weight to it.
It also solves a problem I hear constantly, which is what do I get her when she already has everything. You don't get her a necklace. You get her the next charm for the one she's already wearing.
Any store carrying a line is carrying a curated version of it. We choose what we think will sell in Chappaqua, and we're usually right, but "usually right" means there are pieces you've never had the chance to see.
A trunk show is the one day that gap closes. Jenny will have the full range, she knows the collection cold, and she can tell you what's coming next.
